What is Eyebrow Microblading?: Microblading is an Eyebrow Embroidery technique that creates natural looking hair strokes to add volume and shape to preexisting eyebrows or those who have alopecia, trichotillomania or any other hair loss condition. The pigment is inserted into the basal layer of the epidermis by a blade containing several pins that are 3x smaller than those of a tattoo needle. Since the pigment is inserted closer to the surface of the skin, the strokes look more realistic than tattooing and are semi-permanent.
Why would someone want their eyebrows Microbladed?: Why wouldn't they?! Microblading is a great alternative to tattooing because it is semi-permanent and doesn't have the tendency to turn a gray/blue color or have color bleeding after healing. The hair strokes can be maintained through yearly appointments so there is minimal upkeep throughout the year. Eyebrow Microblading is also a great way to cover previous eyebrow tattoo work. The eyebrow tattoo needs to be significantly faded for the microblading strokes to be visible.
Is this procedure painful?: This procedure is not completely pain-free. Although you will be numbed several times, there is always a possibility of feeling some discomfort. However, the majority of clients say they were never in "pain" and I've even had some clients fall asleep while having their eyebrows microbladed!
How long does this procedure take?: The appointment is scheduled for 3 hours just to allow us enough time for all aspects of the procedure (color matching, shaping, drawing of template). The long appointment time insures we will have the neccessary time needed and DOES NOT mean your actual appointment will take the entire 3 hours.
How long will the results last?: The results of microblading will last anywhere from 1-2 years, depending on 1) How well you take care of them after your treatments and 2) On your daily activities: increased drinking, smoking, tanning, sweating, and exfoliation will all reduce the time your hair strokes will stay visible. An annual appointment is recommended to keep your brows looking their best.
How much does it cost?: The initital procedure is $500, which includes the touch-up appointment (Perfecting Session). It is imperative that you have your touch-up appointment 30 days after your initial procedure, but before 60 days. There will be additional fees if your touch-up is completed after the 60 day mark.
Am I a good candidate?: Please email me and I will be happy to send you a brief questionaire to help decide if this is the best procedure for you! If you have had previous tattoo work on your brows, they will need to be very faded for the microblading strokes to be visible. Also, if you are pregnant, nursing, diabetic, or prone to keloid scarring, this procedure is not recommended for you. Any allergies you have will need to be disclosed before the procedure is to begin.
